Campi Flegrei – Naples, Italy

September 14, 2016October 8, 2016 by thinkingaboutitsailing

The best wine so far on the trip. We tried this over a very nice dinner in Capri. Maybe it had something to do with the great food and service…but for me this was up there with a good french pinot. Sabina also loved this one too!

Zafara – Sicily

We struck upon an awesome wine bar on our first day in Marsala and tried this wine. Very light and low in alcohol it was perfect for the hot 40 degree plus weather

Random Rosato in Italy

We kept seeing these 5 euro plastic bottles of wine for sale and had to try one. Not amazing…but won’t kill you either. Quite low on alcohol (i.e. watered down) so a bit like drinking low alcohol ribena

Frederico II – Lento, Catania, Italy

Best red of the trip so far. We drank this with a very nice meal in Tropea. It was quite heavy (like a merlo) but went well with the heavier food of the region

Morrelino di Scansano – Gargantia, Sardinia

Smooth but quite a heavy red. Nice, but a bit too much for the med during summer

Giogantinu – Sardinia

Interesting drop. A slightly bubbly white. Reminds me a lot of a wine I got on Paul Edwards stag weekend in the Barossa
